If you love a good period drama piece, then you’ve probably imagined yourself in the early 1900s sitting in the drawing room sipping tea and speaking in some comical English accent. Well, in celebration of my best friend’s birthday, I did just that while visiting a Detroit landmark, The Whitney, for high tea time. The Whitney is an iconic mansion built in 1870 in the popular Romanesque Revival style. The Whitney mansion is 22,000 square feet and has 52 rooms, 10 bathrooms, 218 windows, and 20 fireplaces. It is every bit of charming and fabulous. At The Whitney you can experience fine dining, afternoon tea services, an upscale lounge, a garden oasis, and more. Go and live you’re best life, darling.
Cold truth is an ice cream shop located in downtown Detroit. They make vegan, soft served ice cream with delicious toppings that they rotate throughout the year. It is all made with real food and real ingredients. Also, their homemade waffle cone is to die for. I’ve had too many flavors to name and recall. I’ve never tasted a flavor I didn’t like. Whether you’re vegan or not, you will definitely love ice cream from Cold Truth.
Enjoy a delicious signature latte in a contemporary setting with space for meet-ups, work, or a quick "grab and go." If you're visiting before 3pm, you can enjoy a light meal from their breakfast and lunch selections. For a quick grab and go, I ordered the Honey Joy, which is a tea based latte. I also ordered the Golden Joy, which is a coffee based latte with espresso. They were both amazing and bursting with flavors. I was so impressed! I think I'd recommend the Honey Joy for your first visit.
