My vision for my daughter"s first birthday was to have a lovely floral theme party starring roses and “50 shades of pink”. I love the trendy arch backdrops and their simplicity. They can be elegant with flowers, charming in a natural wood finish, or somewhere in between --like mine. I’m all about the glitz and glam, but for a short, intimate gathering in honor of my Raegan Rose, I executed this project regrettably as cheaply as possible. At the time, I was stretched thin with what was actually a joint birthday party for my daughter and son. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot on something I was going to use for only a few hours. The sheathing I used was full of imperfections although I truly preferred a smooth finish. I knew this before the start of my project, however it was too late (quite literally 9pm the night before) to go in a different direction with my materials. So, I just decided to pick the best possible sheathing within that quality grade and do my best. The result was what I'd call, rustic glam. It's stunning--imperfections and all.
The decision to be a stay at home mom felt like no decision at all. It was essential to this family’s boat staying afloat. As someone who has always been goal oriented and has worked hard at academics to secure a “good life”, I felt like the least meaningful member of the family being “just” a stay at home mom. The monotony of my everyday life was really beginning to get to me. I carried such guilt for not feeling content in my role. After all these years, I finally said, “you know what, screw it! I’m done.” So here I am, talking to you, my reader. While still a stay home mom, this mama is finally filling her cup. I am a lover of all things homedom and social media and that’s how we ended up here at, Ariel Millisa.
